TAKEN 3 Director: Oliver Megaton Producer: Luc Besson Written: Luc Besson and Robert Mark Kamen When it comes to Liam Neeson now a days, he's seems like the modern day action hero since his starring role in Taken but who would knew that it lead to a possible franchise and various films that enable him to be his action status. Taken 3 however seems like now that the filmmakers are cashing in and that the franchise is seen now as old for audiences Pros: + Better storyline than what Taken 2 had, it had a good pace that didn't feel rushed nor ended too soon. I did in particular loved the twist that occurs but then again you may see it before it happens on screen. + More emotion is included in its character connection, feeling like its trying to keep up with the first film and its indeed sad at times for the leading hero and secondary characters. + Acting from Neeson is always decent in this action-thrillers but it doesn't top his dramatic roles in drama's. Supporting cast is half-half but there are a few good performances. Cons: - Editing here seems to be quite a headache for audiences, and this mostly occurs in it's action set sequences. It looks like the director was trying to be like Michael Bay but in a 'Bourne Identity' sense. OVERALL: A better sequel than Taken 2, improving heaps on storyline, pace and character however the editing can be blurring, fast and dizzy. Let's hope that there's no rush for a 4th film yet and at least get the right direction and style for it. |
